Foods to Remove for Calmer Kids
  • Girl_with_ponytailsWant to know what foods can set children off and how to avoid them?

  • Looking for better ways to encourage children to eat the right foods?

  • Want a food “first aide” protocol to help settle your child down after exposure?

There are some foods that do cause behavioural problems (hyperactivity, sleep issues, concentration problems) and mental health challenges in children including anxiety.  Removing these foods won’t harm your child but will help you to discover if they are causing problems.  There is a strong link between what we eat and our mental clarity and emotional resilience and children are even more susceptible if an adult also has an intolerance to these foods groups.  We’ll discover how to remove them and how to get your children to eat more unprocessed, natural foods and how you can help them do that.  We’ll also give you a way to “treat” your child when they have been exposed to some of these foods and the result is that you have a child emotionally strung out, hyper and unable to settle.

Effective Discipline
  • attachment parenting stylesDo you want a way to get your children to take action without shaming or punishing them?

  • Long to teach your children to behave without rewards and punishment systems?

  • Struggle to get your children to not do problem behaviour?

Research has now discovered that rewards and punishment systems don’t work because they quickly become unenforceable, unsustainable and the child becomes unmotivated when the reward is too far out of their reality.  Time outs also are problematic when they are used to exclude and punish the child because of the need to be right (as a parent) and their overwhelming emotions (anger, resentment, frustration).  Often the child doesn’t learn from the experience and the behaviour goes on or is modified only to mollify the parent (without understanding the reason why the behaviour was a problem).  We need a way to teach our children how to behave that doesn’t rely on shaming or rewarding good behaviour.  We want our children to learn naturally about consequences and teaches them about how their behaviour affects those around them.  We can also use humour and play to teach our children in a more positive way to behave in situations.  Come and learn how…

Uncovering & Changing Behaviours (parts 1 & 2)
  • unlocking behaviourLong to understand your child’s behaviour?

  • Worried that you may be missing something that your child needs?

  • Want a way to address unwanted behaviour that works for long term change?

Unlock the mysteries of childhood behaviours and discover the hidden need that drives it.  We’ll give you specific ways to unravel and understand what drives behaviour and then give you the knowledge and experience of meeting the need in a different way and meet your child right where they are at.  It takes the shame out of dealing with unwanted behaviours and empowers both of you to do something different.

This workshop is done in two parts to first give you the experience of discovering why your child behaves in ways that don’t work for them and others and then in the second part, how to redirect or meet the way in a more empowering way.

Gaining Cooperation Around the Home
  • chores_0Over arguing about your kids doing their chores?

  • Long to have children who want to help around the home?

  • Finding yelling and punishments don’t work to gain cooperation?

Part of our role as parents is to teach our children about cooperation and participation in everyday chores, that we all need to do, to keep the home functioning.  In this workshop we’ll show you how to approach the conversation around doing more at home and the positive affects of helping with your children/partner and how to navigate the resistance so you come to an agreement on how it’s done.

Negotiation 101 with a Young Person
  • meaningbusinessFeel like you’re always giving in to their demands?

  • Want a way to say “no” that gets respected and without the drama?

  • Always getting manipulated into saying yes even when you don’t want to?

It can be so frustrating to always end up in an argument with your child over everything.  Some children are more argumentative than others and more challenging to get them to cooperate and agree to your terms.  There are some very specific approaches you can use and in this workshop we teach you how to pick your battles and how to approach them with confidence.  We do want our children to learn how to negotiate and grow into adults that understand how to compromise and not demand it all their way, so we must model this too.  I’ll show you how to do this.

Self Care for Parents - When Exhaustion Hits
  • rememberAre you the kind of parent that gives and has nothing left for themselves?

  • Long to stop being a “people pleaser” and look after your needs more?

  • Want clarity around why you give more than you take?

If you’re feeling resentful and overwhelmed by how much you give then you need this workshop.  Self care is essential to ensuring you can be there when your children need you.  We also need to show them that it’s healthy that you look after yourself, take time out and reconnect with who you are… because you’re more than just a mum/dad!  In this workshop we’ll show you how to prioritise you in a healthy way, how it benefits your children when you do and how to do that in even the small moments of the day.

Getting your Mojo Back! - In & Out of the Bedroom
  • securityblanketAre you struggling to find the energy to be intimate with your partner?

  • Feel like all you do is talk about the kids, house and work?

  • Long for that connection that you had before kids?

If you’ve put your energy into your kids, your work or keeping up with the house hold grind and feel like you have no energy left to connect with your partner, then it’s to time stop… re-evaluate, re-prioritise and get back on track.  Families that thrive have a strong parent partnership at the heart of it.  By giving energy to yourself and your relationship you will be giving your children the model of what good love is.  Teaching by modeling is far more powerful than teaching by word.  So let’s get down and in to how you can do that in a way that works for you!

Dealing with Shame - Ending the Shame Game
  • shame saysLong to break the cycle of shaming in your family?

  • Know your fall back into feeling your own shame when things go wrong?

  • Feel guilty when your children do something “wrong” in front of others?

Culturally, many societies have raised generations and used shame to control and oppress children’s behaviours.  We are more aware of it now as we connect with our own shame and are able to name it.  However, there is a difference between shame and making restitution for an act and TOXIC shame where you carry the guilt, shame, and feel bad about yourself over something you had no control over.  In this session we’ll teach you how to manage your own shame, how to help your children with theirs and finally break the burden of family shame.

Strengths Based Parenting
  • childthinkingWant to help your child believe in themselves even when they don’t “fit inside the square”?

  • Long to help your child embrace their uniqueness?

  • Struggle to help boost your child’s self confidence?

  • Want a confident child that also is considerate?

  • Worried about your child’s self image?

  • Need the skills to encourage positive thinking?

Strengths based parenting helps you celebrate your child’s uniqueness and bring out their best qualities.  It encourages you to share the message with your child on how they can focus on what makes them good and not just what is different from others.  We help you explore their world and build their confidence around what they are good at and use that to move forward in life.

The gift of self confidence is something every parent want’s to impart on their children but how do you do that without the child getting overly self important or “full of themselves”?  Having a child who is both confident and also considerate is the key.  Teaching a child to be both is possible with these parenting tips and skills.  Teaching them resilience, the ability to bounce back from disappointment, is also essential.

Full Peaceful Parenting Course (held over 6 weeks)
  • parenting courseLooking for an in depth parenting course that helps you communicate effectively with your children?

  • Want to learn how to talk so they listen?

  • Want a way to parent that works with all ages and cultures?

This 6 week parenting course covers 26 hours of in depth, valuable, comprehensive parenting coaching that will help you with all your relationships!  It will also help you understand yourself better and give you the tools to manage your emotions when they get overwhelming.  This parenting course is run once a year over a 6 week period to allow you to integrate and practice the skills and knowledge you’ll obtain.  The benefits last a lifetime!

Here’s one participant’s feedback –

After the very first day of the course things changed overnight. And by that I mean the way I think and the way I deal with my kids. I realised that SO many things were not their problem, but mine. And that all the little things that bothered me, made me angry, or were just downright not working could be changed, fixed, altered or adjusted. Some things I basically let go.

But there is obviously way more to the course than this. I probably wasn’t quite prepared for how intense and full-on it is. Well, it would have to be to succeed in making a parent change the way they parent. Every Friday I would come home totally exhausted but also excited and happy that really positive changes were being made.

And the other thing I will say about the Peaceful Parenting course is that it not only changes and affects the way you deal with your kids, but also everyone else in your life from your partner to your parents to your friends. It teaches you how to really listen, how to let go of your own agenda. It isn’t an easy fix, magical solution that will stop working at the age of 10, 13, 15 or 20. You  are skills and insights that will help you change the way you think and deal with things for the rest of your life.

I can’t recommend this course enough, it has changed my family for the better. But like I said, it is intense – so be prepared!  Alison Coffs Harbour
